For our vegetable garden at the new house, we needed a LOT of newspapers to put down as our first layer under the compost since we're doing the Back to Eden
style of gardening. Vance was such a good sport and went with me to the recycling center and even got in the dumpster to help us get a nice big stack of old newspapers. The low security inmates who work at the center got a laugh out of us, but we had a great time. Rex also had a good time playing with James.
We also got to start our seedlings! We planted pumpkins, cabbage, cilantro, rosemary, carrots, cantaloupe, beets, lettuce, green beans, sugar snap peas, cucumbers, and green onions, to START! I hope we can grow all this and expand to many more things too. Rosie and I planted the seedlings together. She also helped me make dinner each day that we were there.
We played at Wacissa Lake too! It had a great rope swing and a kiddie beach area. We brought a picnic and had a great time despite swimming in our clothes, since the only time you'll need to swim while you're visiting friends is the one time you didn't pack swim suits for everyone.
The drive out of our neck of the woods was so scenic I had to take a video. Normally, the sun just streams over the meadows at this time of the morning, but even despite the mist that day, it was so beautiful I had to record it. The videos really don't do it justice though, because I passed the really great parts before I took my phone out to record, and also the mist. But it's still lovely. I also videoed the rain from the view of our front door- the front yard was just so beautiful in the rain. Even more in the sun- the sun hits the hill where the house is just perfectly.
On the way home, we stopped in Orlando to get lunch and gas up the car, and it worked out perfectly because Seth was just finishing up a conference there, so we picked him up and got to drive home with him instead of him coming later with a co-worker. How fortuitous!
And our little seedlings are growing! The final picture is less than a week later. It's so exciting to see things grow!
